Big Hike In Maine

Yesterday Bowzer, Uncle Bob, and I went on a very long hike in Maine. You may recall that I am visiting my Uncle Bob in Maine for a few weeks! So far we have had such a great time. I can’t believe we spent so long apart from one another. But I’ll tell you, it feels like we never spent a moment apart. Never again will I go so long without seeing him. He was one of my best friends growing up and it’s great to have him back in my life.

We decided we were going to go on a 10 mile hike throughout the neighboring woods. It was magnificent seeing all of the wonderful views that Maine has to offer.

About 3 miles in we came across this little clearing. We had to stop and take a photo of how beautiful it was.

This was about 6 miles in right after we climbed a pretty steep hill. Again, another amazing view.

This was on our way back. Truly amazing

Of course Bowzer had an amazing time. He really does love spending time in the woods. I really need to move out here…

We Made It!

We made it to my Uncle Bob’s place in Maine today! It only took us a few days to get here. Much quicker than I had anticipated. Bowzer did really well in the car, too! I thought he was going to have a problem being cooped up for so long, but he was a joy to ride with. I made sure to take breaks from driving every few hours so we could get out and stretch our legs. He didn’t get car sick, which I am SUPER happy about.

My Uncle Bob was so happy to see us. It’s been so long since I had seen him. He hasn’t aged a bit. I can still recognize him because of his smile and his laugh. His smile brightens up a room and his laugh is like a thunderous roar. It’s unmistakable.

We’ve spent the whole day catching up and having some beers. Bowzer has been running around the yard like a mad man. There are so many new smells that he has never experienced. I’ve actually never seen him so happy.

I mean, I’ve been thinking about moving out here for a while now. A change of scenery wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world. Although, it would be incredibly hard to leave all of my friends and family. I don’t think I’d be able to do that. Maybe I can get a camper for up here. You know, one of those stationary ones.

I don’t know, I don’t want to make any impulse decisions. For now, I’m going to enjoy spending some quality time with Uncle Bob and Bowzer!

Road Trip!

Bowzer and I are going on a road trip to visit my Uncle up in Maine! We are SUPER excited to be doing this. We’re going to be going on a 3 week adventure. I can’t believe I was able to get time off of work, but man am I pumped!

I haven’t seen my Uncle Bob in over 10 years!! I wonder how much he has changed. Hopefully not at all, because he was always so much fun. I’ll never forget the Easter when my Aunt clogged the garbage disposal with grease and Uncle Bob tried to fix it. He forgot to shut the trap and turned on the water, which absolutely soaked him in water haha! That was SO funny.

He’s also notorious for walking through screen doors. My mother would always yell at him when I was growing up because I think he destroyed about 5 of our screen doors in the span of 3 years. I have no idea how he does it, but he always walks through them! I guess nothing will get in his way haha

Bowzer is going to have so much fun running around on his land. Uncle Bob has about 15 acres of beautiful woodlands.

He’s also carved out several trails, so Bowzer and I will have plenty of opportunity to go hiking throughout the woods. I think that’s the part I am most excited about. Bowzer and I haven’t been hiking in the woods in God knows how long.

I’m going to be sure to give Bowzer some Frontline in order to prevent him from getting ticks. That would be awful if he were to get lime disease.

He’s finally had his energy return to him after the party we had. It took the little guy so long to recover haha

Anyways, I have to go pack! We’re hitting the road soon! Yayyyy!

Great Weekend!

We had such a great time hosting our housewarming party! About 50 people ended up showing up, which was way more than I had originally anticipated. It was a blast though!

People brought SO MUCH food – it was incredible. We had stuffed breads, potato salads, burgers, hot dogs, pizza, chips, dip, etc! and the drinks were plentiful too! My Uncle Don makes one hell of a Margarita. I think he said the trick is to use Tito’s.

I made sure that no one drove home drunk. The last thing that I want is for someone to get pulled over and have their life ruined. So we ended up having a few people stay over. I ended up making everyone pancakes in the morning – chocolate chip, of course. People ended up helping clean up. I don’t think the apartment will ever look as good as it does now.

Bowzer had a great time, too! He got to play with all of his puppy cousins. Luckily all of the dogs are small, like he is. He does get along with big dogs, but he prefers playing with small dogs. We ended up getting the dog playpen that we had talked about and it worked out well. I’m glad that we did that instead of having a dog run setup. A dog run would have caused way too much chaos and would have allowed people to trip over the lines.

Bowzer was absolutely exhausted after the party. He ended up sleeping for a couple of days haha. I’ve never seen a jack russell so un-energetic. It does make me miss his energy, though. As much as his high energy annoys me, I really do love it. It makes me feel young LOL

Big Plans This Weekend

Bowzer and I have such big plans this weekend. We’re going to be having a housewarming party to celebrate us getting our new apartment! We have around 30 of our friends and family coming over. I’m a bit stressed out about how everything is going to go, mainly because I feel the need to entertain everyone when I am hosting. I simply cannot enjoy myself as I really should be; but that’s okay!

I’m going to go to Costco the morning of and buy a few dozen hamburgers and hotdogs. I am a natural on the grill. They call me the grill-master around these parts! Haha!

Bowzer is going to have a blast too! Our friends are all dog lovers and are going to be bringing their dogs. Puppy party at our house! We don’t have a fenced in yard, so I’m not sure what we’re going to do about keeping the dogs in our yard. I’ve been reading about solutions, such as having a dog run or getting a playpen for the dogs. The last time that we had a puppy party at my old place, the dogs ended up running all over the neighborhood. It was an unnecessary stress that we just didn’t need to have.

According to the weatherman, it should be a wonderful weekend to have people over. I’m particularly excited to play some corn-hole. For those not familiar with corn-hole, it involves throwing a bean bag onto a platform that has a hole in it. If you get the bean bag in the hole, then you get more points than if you were to just land the bean bag onto the platform.

Anyways, that’s all for now. I’ll let everyone know how it goes!!
